Installing an EA on MetaTrader 5
Seven steps, once per machine, about ten minutes — and always starting on a demo account.
What you need first
- A hedging MetaTrader 5 account (start with a demo)
- The MetaTrader 5 terminal on Windows, or a VPS that stays online
- The EA file supplied by our team, with its activation coupon
Steps
-
Open the terminal data folder
In MetaTrader 5 choose File → Open Data Folder, then go to MQL5 → Experts
-
Drop the EA in
Copy the supplied .ex5 file into the Experts folder, then close the window
-
Refresh the Navigator
Back in the terminal, right-click Expert Advisors in the Navigator and choose Refresh
-
Allow algorithmic trading
Tools → Options → Expert Advisors, tick Allow algorithmic trading, then make sure the Algo Trading button on the toolbar is green
-
Warm the history (multi-pair boards only)
If you are going to use SuperTrend or Dashboard, drag Preload onto one spare chart, wait until its panel reports completion, then remove it
-
Attach the EA and enter the coupon
Open the chart you want, drag the EA on, put your coupon in the Coupon field, set the rest of the inputs and click OK
-
Prove it on demo first
Run it on a demo account through quiet and volatile sessions, and check the lot size and stop loss against your capital
After the install
Leave the EA running on a demo account for at least a week. Watch how the baskets grow on a volatile day, and check that the lot size and stop loss you set really do fit your capital.
If a multi-pair board still shows grey cells after the install, that is missing price history rather than a broken EA — run Preload again and let it finish.
